Employers hold responsibility for understanding what is necessary to keep workers safe from harm. Conditions surrounding the workplace must be secure for employee’s physical and mental health. As many organizations have implemented wellness program, that focus on smoking cessation, weight control, stress management, early diagnosis of health problems, prevention and education about life-style related and contagious illness. Wellness program can cut Employers health cost and lower absenteeism by preventing health related problems.

Role of HR in offerening Healthy and safe work environment to the workers -

In a company HR plays an important role in communicating the policies to the employees regarding safety measures.

  • This is something employee is also responsible for which Is communicated by the HR.
  • there must be a supervisor who has enough knowledge on health compliance and HR is the one who make link between such compliance and employees.
  • HR also plays an important role in communicating as any problem faced by employee is raised by them to the top management and vise versa.

Ways OSHA assist employers in creating a safer workplace.

  • They motivate and help employers to decrease hazards related to workplace.
  • They impose compulsory health standards and make sure they do inspection frequently.
  • Through partnerships they try keeping the work environment safe.
  • Supporting them to come up with different ideas which can help them to eliminate hazards
  • Proving training and development to employers.

Purpose and significance of Wellness Programs

A company is successful only when its able to get the maximum performance from its employees. For an employee to function and give its best performance depends on employee’s wellness. The purpose and significant of a wellness program can be

  • Employee wellness will lead to good concentration and high energy which will result in productivity.
  • It also contributes towards employee engagement and job satisfaction.
  • It will make employees committed to the organization because when such program is implemented, they feel the sense of belongingness towards the company.
  • It also brings in new talents to the organization. People will be interested to join the company and work for them, as they always prefer employee friendly organization.
  • To an extend it will limit the absenteeism and turnover.

What can be done by HR

The first step an HR should do Is to do a research on the emergency or out break and make their employees aware of the situation.

Give them necessary services that will be required to protect them from such outbreak example during corona the company can provide sanitizers and face mask and hand gloves.

Make necessary technological arrangement for employee to work without any problem. Example work from home, online meetings, providing net connections for them to work from home.

Address the issues faced by employees at its best.
