Gender Equality Index provides a comprehensive ranking of EU-28 countries in terms of various social and economic difference between gender. The 2019 edition of the index has departed from the conventional Intersectional approach that considers the characteristic like disability, age, level of education, country of birth and family type that differ with gender and create a distinct path. While the work-life balance looking a quite pertinent form of political empowerment. It consists of six core area Work, Money, Knowledge, Time, Power and Health. EU average is 67.4 while Spain is at 70.1 in the year 2019, shows on 0 to 100 scale. The score for the year was 65.0 of EU average and 67.4 for Spain. It shows Spain is performing better than the EU average. It still shows greater scope exists to improve the equality across gender. Spain has achieved ninth rank in the EU,  its 2.7 points higher against the EU average. Spain’s score mover parallel with average EU as it achieves consistently the same rank. While progressing a bit better over time. In case of sub-group EU average and Spain are similar with health and money being moving toward better equality. While power is matter of concern for EU average it is 51.9 with higher gap with Spain that have 62. Hence contary to EU average spain has better position relativley in power domain, while greater scope exist for improvemnt.
