Teciferda (Tecfidera)

  • Generic name:Dimethyl fumarate
  • Classification :Immunomodulator
  • Action :After the administration of the drug ,this will gradually decrease the inflammatory response and the damage occurring in the nerves. As a result the symptoms are controlled and prevented
  • Contraindication :Pregnancy, nursing mother ,hypersensitivity ,allergies
  • Precautions :

  • Onset: in about 1hour to 24 hours
  • Peak:2-2.5hours

    • Assess for any adverse reactions
    • Assess for changes in liver enzymes and renal profile as per order
    • Inform the patient for report any type of abnormalities or changes or any sideegfy
    • No OTC medication
    • Follow aseptic procedure to prevent infection
    • Assess for skin changes
    • Infection control practice to prevent infection
    • To take medication only as directed ,not to overdose or underdose
    • Missed dose can be taken when remembered .In case if the time is near to next dose just skip the missed dose and take the next dose
