Genetic name- Cyclopentolate hydrochloride

Brand name- Cyclogyl

Category class- Atropine Substitutes, Anticholinergic

Expected pharmacological Action-

Drugs enters into the body
Block the muscarinic receptors in the eye

Relaxation of the muscle of eye is occour..
Produce anticholinergic effect
Produce therapeutic effect

Complications- Seizure,delirium, Brain hemorrhage

Condradication/ Precaution- Down syndrome, Closed angle glaucoma

Interaction- decrease the therapeutic effect if the drug is not use for proper amount

Medication Administration - By instillation of drops

Evaluation of medication effectiveness- The medication is effective

Therapeutic use- Mydriasis, Muscle contraction of the eye etc

Nursing interventions-

Proper sterilization technique should be maintained before drug administration

Dose should be checked before administration

Expiary Date should be checked

Client Education -

Any allergic substance should be avoided
If any irritation is occour then water should be used
If any side effects occour inform the Doctor
Avoid any kind of hazard activity..

2) Timolol

Generic Name- Timolol

Group- Beta blocker, antihypertensive

Pharmalogical action- Block the beta adrenargic receptor in the vascular muscle, increase the muscle contraction & produce therapeutic effect

Indication- Hypertension, Migraine prophylaxis

Contradication - Hypersensitivity, Cardiac failure, asthma etc

Precaution - pregnancy, breast feeding, Diabetes mallitus

Complication - visual disturbance,hypoglycemia, joint pain,muscle pain

Interaction --

Increase - hypotension,bradycardia

Decrease- Hypoglycemic effect

Nursing intervention-

Assessment for any headache should be done

I & O chart should be maintained

Vitals signs specially blood pressure should be checked at a regular interval

Assess for any edema

Client education --

If any side effects occour inform the Doctor

Not to use OTC product

To avoid smoking & alcohol

3) Pilocarpine

Generic name- Pilocarpine

Group - Cholinergics

Indication - Open angle glaucoma, Ocular hypertension

Mechanism of action -Reduce the production of aqueous humor & produce therapeutic effect

Contradication & precaution - Hypersensitive condition

Nursing intervention -

Maintain aseptic technique

Assess the condition of eye

Client education --

If any side effects occour inform Doctor

Avoid any kind of hazardous activity

Interaction-- Nothing significant..
