My parents used the authoritative parenting style when I was younger. They have however shifted to the permissive parenting style in the recent times.
I would prefer to use an authoritative parenting style to parent in the future.
Authoritative parenting style is one of the most favourable parenting styles when it comes to the development of a child. This parenting style prefers a reasonable and caring approach by setting high but clear expectations with the children. Frequent communication is present in this kind of parenting style which helps the child to maintain an emotional and moral relationship with their parents which helps them grow and develop essential skills of communication and dealing with the environment. Parents and this kind of parenting style maintain strict disciplinary rules but they also explain why the rules are put in the first place so that the child can understand them and follow them. The same is the case with expectations where the goals are set high but they are clear and explained which helps the child to put in more effort toward the goal.
