Here, we shall discuss 2 parenting styles such as authoritarian and permissive parenting

Authoritarian parenting

Pros

• Expectations from parents are very well known by the teenager
• The teenager will be obedient to a greater extend.
• The teenager will always have a feeling of both security relationship stability with parents

Cons

• They fail to learn new tasks assigned to them, although they could be obedient.
• They are found to rebel and may even leave home which is the case with most teenagers.
• They act in a completely different way whenever parents are not around.

Permissive parents

Pros

• The relationship between parent and teenager is found friendly
• The teenager feels that his opinion in the family is very much taken into consideration.
• Parents are found to communicate more with the teenager.

Cons

• It becomes difficult for parents to make the teenager understand the importance of different rules in society.
• Teenagers are found to take freedom given to them by their parents as granted and are found to cheat parents on several occasions.
• Teenager is never afraid of any sort of consequences.
