Identify an e-commerce website whose interface has some design challenges. Evaluate the three parts of the user interface (navigation, input, and output) using the six principles of interface design (layout, content awareness, aesthetics, user experience, consistency, and minimal user effort). To which principles does the interface adhere successfully? Why? In which areas does it fall short? Explain. Choose one problem you found with the interface. Which step of the interface design process should have prevented the problem? Explain.
We can here consider for the giant Amazon eCommerce website only, layout, content awareness, user experience are present on the website.
As the website is structured properly thus it has a very good layout, they have divided the products into different sections properly. Content awareness is also good on the website. User experience is very nice and they have created an application for different types of users as well.
But the website lack aesthetics, in some of the webpages you can still find the old interface which amazon used back in the 2000s. So due to this reason consistency is not there. Sometimes, you may have to struggle a lot to find a product that is not famous enough and thus sometimes it is not the minimal user effort.
The major problem which I found with the website is for the user interface which changes back to the old one in some cases, this could have prevented by aesthetics and consistency.
