In the first task i have chosen "Takealot" and "Zando.co.za" in the second task which are one of the best online stores in South Africa.

2.1. Protection of personal information act 4 of 2013 includes:-

1) To protect the personal information of the public

2) To provide issuing code of conduct.

3) To introduce certain conditions as to encourage minimum requirements of the processing of personal information.

4) Automated decision making.

According to "The protection of South African consumers transacting in the electronic space", it is clearly given that Takealot is a website that diverts itself from the act of protection of personal information. The statement given here is ' The figure contained in Addendum A hereto was taken from the webpage of a major online South African supplier. As visually appealing as the web page is vital information that is readily available is not displayed on the page, particularly information relating to the terms and conditions of the purchase. In order to enhance consumer protection in line with the objectives of the legislative framework, the supplier webpage needs to make a shift towards enhancing and promoting consumer awareness. One way to do this is to ensure the visibility of terms and conditions of purchase. '

2.2 Different payment methods which are adopted by Zando.co.za are:-

Payment made via:

  • Credit & Debit Card: Zando accepts credit card and debit/cheque card payment through Visa, and MasterCard only. We make use of the 3D authentication system in which a person is directed towards his/her bank through a secured link.
  • COD (Cash on delivery): Paying for the purchase when the product is delivered at the door.

These payment methods have been obtained from the official site of zando.co.za.

2.3. South Africans don't trust any company regarding the security of their sites and customers' data. There was a huge data infringement that took place in 2017 in which millions of user's data got leaked. The act "Protection of personal information Act 4 2013" is one of the ways which was adopted in ensuring the personal information and data of the customers.

There are many types of online scams, fraud which can lead to the leaking of the consumer's personal information.

Many online websites in South Africa while examining security issues, mainly focus on payment techniques. Like:-

•eBay:- They ensure secure payment transactions through PayPal.

•seeds for Africa:- They transact on eBay. And they ensure- •All personal data of the consumer is encrypted within the Payfasts database. • They have an outstanding monitoring procedure like IP tracking.

•SiD allows online payment with strict bank security measures. They do not store customers banking details.

•Zando makes use of 3D authentication system which verifies the customer's bank details. This way a person is directed towards its bank, via safe link. And they also don't access to cutomer's card details.
