Today's work environment needs employees to be skilled in performing the complex tasks in an effective, efficient, and safe manner. It is necessary to provide the training and development activities when the employees are not performing up to the mark or at an expected level of performance. Manager plays very important role in employee development this can be done by identifying training needs and supporting training on the job. It is the duty of manager to motivate the employee to participate in the training programs and employee development activities. The manager need to make sure all the employees realize the importance of training and how such initiatives benefits them. They are expert in employee needs & how each individual in the company can contribute to achieve organization goals. When the managers are closely involved in the training and development activities , employees are more likely to be engaged too. They feel that their development is valued & that their manager supports their growth. So effective training will improve the return on investment, productivity and employee satisfaction. The manager identifies the training needs by direct observing employees, interviews, records & report studies etc. Manager should attend the training before recommending any training to their employees. This will provide the manager hands on information , which support their decision about determining if the training needs will be met by the training & development programs and if their employees are right fit to attend the program.
