g. Consider the extraneous variable campus living arrangement. Describe how you could control this extraneous variable through homogeneous grouping.

h. Suggest one additional extraneous variable and one way to control it.

Solutions

Expert Solution

g. The extraneous variable campus living arrangement can be controlled through homogeneous grouping. For this we have to create groups based on subjects and degrees and living arrangement must be made by focusing on these groups. For example, a group of mathematics students in bachelors should reside in the same campus building and similarly, another group of students must have this type of living arrangement.

h. An additional extraneous variable is the previous performance of students and this variable can be controlled by creating different sections on the basis of performance. For example, 50% of students who score GPA less than 3.5 and 50% of the students those who have GPA greater than 3.5 will be in one section, and rest of the 50% students will be in another section. This will help good students to interact with each other and students who scored less can get help from good students.
