In today's business generally we are unable to differentiate between the role of a manager and a leader but if we look at the actual roles closely we will ascertain that they have certain functional differences. A leader is generally the individual who formulates and forward ideas based on which the team is driven and the approach of the team is also dependent on what the leader forwards. The responsibility of the leader is to effectively take decision and also communicate problem solving ideas that will contribute to the success of the team. On the other hand the manager is an individual whose primary responsibility is to take into account the activities that are going on and ensure that they are according and adhere to the norms of the requirement of the project or team. The manager needs to manage the schedule, budget and also the resource allocation to ensure that the project or task is within the schedule or before the schedule. It can also be stated that the role of a manager is mostly in the field of operations management.
