Showing empathy is quite therapeutic,since the client feels
comfortable in shring their feelings as they see that the counselor
has also gone through similiar experiences and a trust
develops.When a counselor shares similar experiences with client to
form a common ground of discussion,it is reaffirming for the client
that he/she is not the only one facing it. Catharsis i.e. venting
out one's feelings is therapeutic.
Counselors can also engage clients in some recreational
activities to make them refocus their attention on good and new
things in life.They could asked to join yoga classes,meditation
