Many organizations are placing increasing importance on values in the workplace. Explain what is meant by workplace values and how they can impact how employees behave. Provide two examples to support your answer.
Workplace values are guiding principles. They can be used to choose between right and wrong of working and can help make important decisions. These values set the tone for the company culture and identifies what the organisation as a whole cares about. It drives the attitudes and behaviour that you want to see in the team.
It impacts the employee behaviour in many ways. Having a clear set of values helps employee understand what the organisation stands for. It gives them guidance for their work and a sense of security.
For ex. Team work and helping others is an important workplace value. If your organisation has a value of helping others and you hire a recruit who came from an organisation that didnt have this value, the core values will crash and it will cause fighting and bad feeling in the group.
Another example can be honesty. Lack of honesty can also create indifference among the employees. If an organisation does have honesty, all it will lead to is chaos among teams.
