N number of victims of domestic violence are being recorded anually all over the world. This influx in the rate of violence had been impacting our lives physically and psychologically as well. Victims of violence carry the emotional and psychological scars for a long way. Family Advocacy Program has been started to promote the health of the victims and their family members by reducing the threatening effects of violence. FAP also works to prevent abuse by offering programs which aims to put a full stop on violence before it occurs. FAP members are trained to respond to the effect of abuse, ensure their safety and provide respective counselling and help to the victims.

FAP employs the following prevention program to ensure safety and to create awareness in order to prevent abuse:

? Classes and workshops - To improve the communication pattern FAP teaches several stress management and anger management techniques to handle situation which can lead to violence.

? Counselling- Counseling is the best way to help individuals change their attitudes, thoughts and beliefs which triggers the hurtful act of violence . This one to one interaction allows one to restructure their thought patterns in more productive manner.

? Preparing To-be Parents- Various classes and campaigns are organised with the aim to mentally and emotionally prepare the to-be parents to provide a secure and health promoting environment to their children to prevent child abuse.

? Public awareness- FAP works with the aim to conduct campaigns to spread awareness among people of the harmful and hurtful effects of violence on the victims and their related family members as well.

This advocacy program is helpful to prevent and respond to abusive behavior.

As mentioned above many of the people also become the victims of brutal rape which leaves the hurtful and very deep scars for over the life , RVAP( Rape Victim Advocacy Program) is the program run with the aim of helping the rape victims By providing confidential and trauma related advocacy while promoting the social change.

RVAP carry out the program by providing following help:

? Counselling- As mentioned above, counselling is the effective way to work on one-to-one basis in changing the distorted thoughts and beliefs of the abusers and working on the victims to promote their emotional and social well-being as well.

? Advocacy- aims at providing medical, legal, academic and community help to the victims.

? Prevention- Team helps in preventing the happening of rape cases by organising education campaigns and workshops and seminars.

In sum these programs aims to end destructive and abusive behaviors of the abusers while creating healthy and positive social relationships.
