Discuss the history of how the criminal justice system has dealt with rape. Are these issues now fixed? Why or why not? How does gender play into these types of crimes?

Victim of rape victim feel let down by criminal justice system. Report suggest that rates for sexual assault we're lower than those for other violent crimes and that incidents involving non-stramgers had especially low reporting cases.

Reasons that victims gave for not reporting including fear of relaliation for the rapist feeling of shame and embarrassmemts.

In rape cases the victim used cross examined to such extent about her own life and activities, it always like "Blaming the victim". They made to feel as they have only invited the crime or somehow deserved the attack.

Even today it continues to be the same, nothing has changed much in criminal justice system. Because of this fear of the repercussions is a huge obstacles in rape cases. Sometimes they fear of losing their jobs, fear of not getting another job, fear of loosing their creditibility etc .

Gender plays an important role in these types of crime. Women in perticular feel shame because they are often blamed for being sexually assaulted. Even today, women are accused of causing their victimization with comments like " What did she expect when she dresses like this" or "she shouldn't have had so much to drink".
