Expert Solution

a) Scenario

In an organization, the management asks to perform the task in a team in which the responsibilities and duties of all the employees will be exclusively determined. In the teams, while performing the tasks, a person A shows friendly and intellectual behavior with others in the team that makes him stand different than others. Many employees of the team follow his lead and do not give their own perspective and ideas on the project rather just agree with him. Due to this, the team follows what he says and expects. The dominating person A suggested the ways of accomplishing the task by using fewer resources and using the less amount of total budget given by management to outshine the other teams working on the same project. Everyone in the team got impressed by him and followed his lead.

b)

The outcome of this situation was that as per the guidelines of this dominating team member, everyone in the team started working by using fewer resources and focused on providing the best productivity than other teams using more resources. As a result, the team has to change the pattern of working to make sure that fewer resources will be utilized. and because of this change, they lag behind other teams and got eliminated from the task. The entire team got angry with the dominating member and felt guilty that they have all listed to him, a single person must because he was friendly at the beginning.

c) Specific measures that could be taken

The specific measures that could be taken for avoiding such nature and outcome as a failed project is brainstorming secession. In this secession, every member is allowed to think of the potential solution of the problem and how to increase productivity and write that done on the paper without discussing it with anyone. This measure would have been successful because every member has been allowed to make a contribution.
