As the HR Director, you are tasked with determining how to combine candidates' assessment scores (standardized interview, an intelligence test, and a work sample) and extending offers to the three most qualified candidates. Which method would you recommend for combining the scores? Why? What factors other than the assessment scores would you take into account before selecting the final candidates? Once the final candidates are selected, would it be fair to offer different starting salary rates if needed to get them to come aboard? Why or why not?
Which method would you recommend for combining the scores? Why?
The summary score
can be used to combine the scores because of summary scores
combines various measurements and provide a single score. Although
the different measures depict different issues, the measure in true
sense is a single specific service or single provider.
What factors other than the assessment scores would you take into account before selecting the final candidates?
A group discussion
would be a better assessment where the ability of a candidate's
communication skills will be judged. Therefore, communication
skills and the ability to speak in front of others can be
judged.
Once the final candidates are selected, would it be fair to offer different starting salary rates if needed to get them to come aboard? Why or why not?
Yes, it is definitely okay to offer different salary rates for different candidates because some will be experienced players in the field, while others could be fresher lacking work experience.
