fundamental idea on motivation of employees ?do you
agree or not
subject organizational behaviour
Motivation, especially in today’s business landscape is represented as a function of both the internal and external factors that create the necessary drive and engagement and make use of the necessary aspects of performance in order to create a better understanding and planning for the future goals of the individual. Now, we can say that there are a number of theories put forward by experts in the field such as the Two Factor Theory given by Herzberg, Theory X, and Theory Y, given by McClelland, early behavior theory given by Hawthorne through the Hawthorne experiments and Expectancy theory. The one theory that I believe holds the most value for us in an organizational context is the hierarchy of needs theory proposed by Abraham Maslow. As a psychologist, Maslow was able to identify that there are needs at different levels that an individual achieves and then climbs a higher-level structure in order to then chase the higher-level needs, till they finally reach the need of Self-Actualization. The needs are represented as a pyramid with different levels with basic needs of food, security, and shelter, to increasing needs like belonging and self-esteem, and eventually, self-actualization sits at the top of the pyramid. Each previous level of the needs has to be achieved for the individual to move forward to the next level. This shift is what we can contribute to its ability to create the necessary drive in the individuals, especially when made use of leaders in order to motivate employees based on their personal level of needs.
I agree that it is motivation and need that holds the most value
wherever productivity is concerned and as far as the organization
is concerned, the fact that its human currently accounts for most
of its competitiveness can be considered to be the necessary factor
why we would want to cater to it.
