1b. What are three important techniques to improve the effectiveness of a brainstorming session?
1a. The three common pitfalls that should be avoided during brainstorming sessions are mentioned below:
-Group domination-
If one person dominates the session, the creative energies of the other group members are not utlized resulting in less detection of fraud risks.
- Social loafing-
Another word for social loafing is free riding. It occurs when some members disengage from the group in the hope that other members will make up for their lack of participation.
- Groupthink
This situation occurs when members become more concerned with reaching a consensus than coming up with ingenious ideas.
These three problems can be avoided by deploying " Groupshift" i,e. focus on the purpose of the brainstorming session.
1b The three important techniques to improve the effectiveness of a brainstorming session are as follows:
- Open brainstorming:
In this procedure, there are very few rules and regulations and ideas flow openly.
- Round robin brainstorming:
This involves silent brainstorming i.e. thinking to oneself.
Electronic brainstorming:
- This type of brainstorming combines conventional brainstorming with software technology.
