Identify and describe the four major parts of the adult brain (i.e., cerebrum, diencephalon, brainstem, cerebellum).

Solutions

Expert Solution

Adult Brain has Four major parts

1. brain stem
2. cerebellum
3. diencephalon
4. cerebrum

Brain stem

It Connects the spinal cord to the remainder of the brain and contains many ascending and descending nerve tracts.

It has 3 parts:

medulla oblongata, pons, and midbrain.

Cerebellum

Also known as the "little brain"

Diencephalon

It has 3 parts;

Thalamus: A forebrain structure that processes sensory information for all senses, except smell, and relays it to the cerebral cortex.

Hypothalamus link between nervous system and endocrine system. it detect oxygen, temperature and hunger feeling full, mammillary bodies. and

Epithalamus (Above) contains pineal Glands,Pineal glands produce hormone called Melatunium

Cerebrum

It is the largest part of the brain.

cerebrum has 2 hemispheres, contains sulcus and gyrus

The four region of the brain from bottom to top

Brainstem, diencephalon, cerebellum, cerebrum
