Primary organs of male reproductive system
1) Testes
- They are male gonads.
 
- They contains seminiferous tubules, the site for sperm (male
gamate) production.
 
2) Epididymis
- It functions as the site for maturation of the sperms.
 
- Sperms are stored here before ejaculation.
 
3) Vas deferens
- It transports the sperms from the epididymis to the ejaculatory
duct.
 
4) Ejaculatory duct
- It is formed by as a combination of vas deferens and duct of
seminal vesicle.
 
- It transports sperms into first segment of the
urethra.
 
5) Urethra
- A long tube that transports both sperms and the urine.
 
- It is divides into segments such as : Prostatic urethra,
membraneous urethra and spongy urethra.
 
6) Peniis
- It is a male copulatory organ.
 
- It helps in delivering sperms into female reproductive
tract.
 
7) Scrrotum
- A pouch located posterior to the peniis.
 
- It contains testes and maintains a body temperature lower that
normal body temperature to promote spermatogeesis.
 
Accessory organs of male reproductive system
1) Prostate gland
- It contributes to the 30% of semen volume.
 
- It produces milky alkaline fluid that neutralize the acidity of
female reproductive tract and helps the sperms to survive.
 
2) Seminal vesicles
- It contributes to the 60% of semen volume.
 
- Seminal fluid contains fructose that provides nutrition and
energy to the sperm.
 
3) Bulbourethral glands
- It contributes to the 10% of semen volume.
 
- It produces mucus type of fluid to lubricate the female
reproductive tract.
