1-A) What is the environmental impact of the way we produce beef in contemporary America? 1-B) What is “food democracy?” and do you believe that food democracy can promote justice in the new global age?
1-A). America is home to more than 94 million cattle which includes beef cows as well. And this figure is increasing every year. We are living in an era of rapid climate change and global warming. Livestock is one of the major contributors to Greenhouse gases which is the main reason for Global warming. According to FAO livestock contributes around 14% of Greenhouse gases, which is roughly around 7 billion gigatons of carbon dioxide. This is how the production of beef which is a part of livestock impacts environment.
1-B). Food democracy is a concept that is simply an enhancement of the human right of access to safe, nutritious food that's just been freshly produced in a sustainable way.
In this new age of haphazard development and exploitation of natural resources, the concept of food democracy is gaining momentum which has the potential to play a crucial role in ensuring food and nutrition safety to all people without any bias, that too in a sustainable way. Food democracy also helps in reducing inequality in the field of food and agriculture.
