Experience / familiarity with the most common construction standards concrete, masonry, metals, wood:

In construction standards play a vital role. All engineering data is covered in standards. It helps to get the idea about construction methods and technical data is provided in it to have durable, sound and trustworthy structures. There are separate technical codes/ standards for each activity.

ACI i.e. American Concrete institute is a authority providing standards worldwide. It is also a resource in development distribution and adoption of standards.

Abrasion resistance of concrete test description is given in ASTM C418-12 likewise numerous standards are used in in concreting. Some ASTM standards used in concrete are C799/C799m-12C1138M-12,C944/C944M-12,etc.

Standards related to Aggregate reaction in concrete are C441/C441M-17C1778-16,C1293-18a.

Standards related to aggregate are C33, C44,C70,C29

ASTM for Wood are D2898,D3201,D5516,D5664 etc.

Standards for masonry are C1433,C1504,C1577, CC1786, etc

Importance of standards:-

These standards are important as it provides clear and accurate method of construction design, and testing procedures. Limits are given in standards to define the quality of material so selection of right material is achieved. Standards are core engineering documents providing technical data in construction

Familiarity with ISO standards and quality management system:-

ISO stands for International organisation for standards. It is an international standard setting body having representative from various national standards organisations. Its head quarter is in Geneva, Switzerland. 164 countries are members of ISO worldwide.

ISO provides better organization/ company structures and sets the business procedures to enhance the customer satisfaction, increase in business and hence overall growth of company. This is nothing but a quality management system. QMS improves the procedure and defines the sequences any procedure or product quality lagging is identified in scheduled audit and corrective action is taken to reoccur the same.

ISO 9001:2015 is referred for Quality management system with having ten different clauses and it works on PLAN-DO-CHECK-ACT (PDCA) cycle.

Importance of Quality Audits:-

Quality audits are important to identify any lagging in procedure and to identify any quality failures. Also audits are helpful to check whether Quality management system is implemented or not as per ISO 9001:2015.

Quality Failures:-

1. Documentation is not as per formats of project Quality manual.

2.Documents are not reviewed in time schedule.

3.Management Review meeting is not conducted in time and proper minutes of meetings are not prepared.

4. Customer satisfaction report is not received/its not as per set Quality objective.

5.Product quality rating is below target set/ product is not up to the acceptance level.

Quality Slogans:-

1. Quality is a thing doing right when no one see.

2. There is never late to do the things right way.

3. Do good Feel proud.

4. Ego want progress , soul want Quality.

5. Say no to excess water cement ratio..

Explain, at the microscale, the process of fatigue, with emphasis on why metals experience fatigue. A pressure vessel is made of aluminum alloy and operates at 15 cycles per minute. It operates 50% of the time at a stress amplitude of 1400 psi; the fatigue life at this stress level is 1,000,000 cycles. The other 50% of the time a stress amplitude of 2100 psi is exerted on the vessel; the fatigue life for the material at this stress level...
