Weird sleep adaptations – what are they and what are they for?
Some animals show unusual behavioural adaptations while sleeping like in whale , porpoise shut down half part of their brain and one eye alternately for some time.
In sea otters they sleep on the back and avoid drifting in sea current .
Similarly ducks sleep with one eye open to keep track of predators .
Bats sleep upside down hanging from a support .
In birds claw muscles relaxed and clench the branch of tree so they don't fall .
