Based on your knowledge of sleep and sleep cycles, what should be the start time for schools? Why? Explain your answer. Do you feel like you physically and mentally get enough sleep to fully and actively participate in the events of your day?
Most of the children and adolescents sleep only after ten which means they should sleep till 6 am. They need at least 2 hours to get ready and 1 hour of travelling. So, the ideal school time, in my opinion should be 09.30 am or 10.00 am. One of the most important problems that children and adolescents face today is the early school time which has reduced the sleep time and thus has resulted in cognitive, mental and physical problems. An average person needs 8 hours of sleep which will put their body and mind to rest and rejuvenate one for the next day. Today, there are plenty of things such as more homework, more technology, more societal pressure and more independence has reduced the sleep to a great extent. Most of the people sleep late today, especially the adolescents but they have to get-up early and prepare for the school which gives them less amount of sleep thus affect their cognitive ability in the school.
I think, it’s really important that a good night’s sleep will strengthen a person physically as all the organs of the body gets enough rest and all the stress and tensions of the day is taken care of by dreams, thus the entire body and mind gets renewed and strengthened. A good night’s sleep of at least 8 hours relaxes one’s body and mind, preparing them to work effectively. The brain becomes fresh and it could generate more ideas and the physical body will be ready to execute the orders of the brain.
