Ans) In comparison to the past years our society has changed drastically. There are many social issues we acknowledge today, but choose to live with, or cease to complain about, some of them are listed below.
1) Open to having less privacy: Today in the world were Facebook and Instagram are important social tools. People’s lives have become less private, today we want to tell the world what we do in our lives, as compared to the past were an individual’s privacy was confided to the knowledge of family members and close friends only. We today provide personal details on an open platform greatly risking our privacy.
2) Violence in video games: The games that were once considered extremely violent are too tame, in comparison to the modern games that have evolved over the period, which are gaining popularity among children and adults alike.
3) High dependency on Cell Phones: The use of cell phones is become a necessity and one cannot live without it. Though it facilitates communication and social interaction. It has enslaved people due to its extensive usage. The many applications and websites have got people completely hook on to them. People try to live their lives like they portray it online. Even when we are in the company of a physical partner, we look for updates from our virtual partners, ignoring the presence of the physical partner.
4) Unhealthy eating patterns: People today are seen follow unhealthy eating patterns, either they overeat or they refrain from eating in order to maintain a slim and thin look. Health is given less priority were people excessively indulge in eating unhealthy food leading to obesity. The portrayals of slim and thin models in media have influenced some people and teenagers to avoid healthy food and restrict food intake, leading to anorexia.
5) Indifferences in Gender pay and work positions: Though today we are a gender sensitive society, we do see a vast difference in the pay scales for women and men employees alike. Men on an average are paid higher than women for the same level of work. We can also observe that most of the senior positions of companies and organizations are male dominated.
