America is an individualistic country that is concerned with protecting individual rights. It has enacted and accepted whatever change that came on its way in defining its culture and society. One important thing among them is gun license. America was a wild country in sense it has a vast landscape and lots of animal and human threats were present earlier. So, people were allowed to keep guns with them to protect themselves from different dangers.

There are number of laws regulating the manufacturing, possession, sales, transfer etc. and ATF, Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms and Explosives enforce these laws. Today, although the scenario has changed, nearly 40% of the household has a gun which is very alarming. This has caused enough shooting in America killing many people. . This has resulted in a big debate whether public should be allowed to have guns or not. American politicians are struggling to make a decision because it’s between the ethics and the individualistic society.

Each American state has its own gun regulating laws apart from the Federal laws and 44 states have it in their constitutions. Most of them have the same reason which is self-defense and some say that it’s needed to protect the property from others. People who argue against gun license say that gun in the hands of lunatics will take away many lives. This has happened in the recent school shootings, concert shootings etc. So America has to do more about gun control but it’s going to be more difficult with the individualistic society.
