Gun control is a comprehensive terms which includes any kind of control on what kinds of firearms can be purchased and sold , who can have these or sell these , where and in what manners these are to be stored, duties of the seller towards the buyer, obligation of both buyer and seller to report transactions to the government.
In fact, this term also includes the related matters, for example, controlling the nature of ammunition and magazines, or technology.
In past few years the main discussion related to gun control was limited mainly on the background check of the owners, buyers, permitting the individual to move with the weapons in public areas and should the possession of assault rifles be allowed.
There are some specific types of individuals who are not allowed to have these firearms as per the federal; law especially those individuals who have some sort of criminal records or mental illness , drug addicts; immigrants without legal status; veterans who left the military with a dishonorable discharge;, the permanent order which keeps them restrained from a partner or a partner’s children
It is required under the Federal laws that licensed gun dealers must perform a background check before selling the product and this can be done with the help of database run by the F.B.I., but there are many loopholes in this system. The biggest limitation is the small-scale seller which includes who conduct business activities in gun shows and they do not perform any kind of background check and it is termed as gun show loophole.
In the past 25 years, support in favor of gun control has been reduced among the common public in the USA about the gun control despite many incidents of mass shooting. However, there is a demand for the increased regulations after the incidents of some of the high profile shootings but this support is quite limited. The issue of Gun Control is one of the fieriest discussion in the USA at present. The Second Amendment (Amendment II) to the United States Constitution protects the right of the people to keep and bear arms and was adopted on December 15, 1791, as part of the first ten amendments contained in the Bill of Rights.
