The hook- You can be jailed if you write an article about the Chinese government, the same way that you are writing an essay on the American government here. Do you wonder why? It is because that government is not up for discussion, one is not free to discuss the ways and means of the government………(this statement is alarmist but serves as a good hook)

Thesis statement- Democracies are progressive and are open to evolve.

One paragraph to define a democracy. Dwell a bit on different types of governments.

While doing so, one can explain what type of government is not a democracy. You may choose to give examples of North Korea, China, Saudi Arabia and so on….

Then give examples of a few countries that are democracies, like India, Brazil, New Zealand, Canada and so on…..

Here the discussion can be about types of democracies….Each democracy is different from the other in terms of structure….This needs to be explained

Paragraph 3

Justify the definition of democracy provided by showing examples of the democracies that you have explained.

Paragraph 4

Explain the features of a good democracy…..elections, no discrimination, freedom of speech, the functioning of an independent judiciary, federalism and so on.

Here, the list can choose what you think is the most important.

Give instances of each of the features and show how they have worked over the years in the American system.
