1K - Part 3
What is the name of the fluid that the lymphatic vessels circulate throughout the body and what does it contain?
1K - Part 4
In how many directions do the lymphatic vessels circulate the fluid you have named throughout the lymphatic system?
1K - Part 5
As a part of the lymphatic system, what are lymph nodes responsible for filtering and how do they help protect the human body from viruses and infection?
1K - Part 6
Give examples of two specific locations within the body where there are lymph nodes.
1K - Part 7
Which part of the lymphatic system is responsible for filtering blood and what does it remove from the blood in filtering it?
1K - Part 8
Explain the role that bone marrow plays as a part of the lymphatic system.
1K Part 1) The lymphatic system is a part of immune system. The immune system helps in fighting infections and keeps the body healthy.
part 2) As the lymphatic system collects excess fluids from body tissues and sends it to the bloodstream hence maintains the Homoeostasis in terms of fluid balance.
Part 3)The lymphatic system Carries the fluid called as lymph.Lymph is clear to white fluid which contains WBCs , chyle, fats and proteins.
Part 4) The fluid of lymphatic system that is lymph travels only in one direction that is towards heart.
Part 5) Lymph nodes filters pathogens (virus & bacteria etc).Lymph nodes after filtering the virus out traps it and it contains B and T-cells which helps in fighting infection.
Part 6) Example of lymph nodes area are the axillary region and groin region.
Part 7)Spleen is responsible for filtering out blood and it removes mainly dead RBCs and particulate matter from bloodstream.
part 8)The bone marrow produces T cells and produces & matures B cells. These B cells and T cells lodge into lymphoid organs and provides immunity against pathogens.
