Organ system is formed by group of organs working together to perform specific function. A group of organ systems work together to maintain stable and internal environment of human body.
There are major nine organ systems in human body which perform specific/unique function to sustain human body:
(1) skeletal system: Major organs are bones and joints. It's main function is to protect internal organs and give rigidity to a body.
(2) Muscular system: Major organs are muscles, tendons and ligaments. It main function is to control the movements of the body.
(3) Digestive system: Major organs are mouth, esophagus, stomach, small intestine, large intestine, rectum, Angus, liver, gallbladder, pancreas, appendix. It's main function is to extract nutrients from food and excrete waste products from the body.
(4) Respiratory system: Major organs are nose, larynx and pharynx, trachea, bronchi, lungs. Its function is to add oxygen to the blood and remove carbon dioxide from the blood. Oxygen is used in cellular respiration to obtain energy from nutrients.
(5) Circulatory system: Major organs are heart, blood vessels. Its function is to pump blood and circulates it throughout the body.
(6) Excretory system: Major organs are kidneys, ureters, bladder, urethra. Its function is to filter waste products from the blood.
(7) Nervous system: Major organs are brain, spinal cord, nerves. Tts function is to direct intentional and many automatic actions of the body and enable thinking, self-awareness, and emotions.
(8) Reproductive system: Majororgans are ovaries, testes. Its function is to enable reproduction.
(9) Glandular system: Major organs are pituitary gland, thyroid gland, parathyroid gland, adrenal gland, pancreas, gonads. Its function to produce chemical messenger and circulate them through the blood, which direct the activities to the different organ.
