Please discuss the lymphatic system. What is importance of this part of the immune system? Please be detailed. What are the primary organs and their functions?
First let me give you an idea of what is lymphatic system it is a group of network through which the lymph drains from the tissues into the blood it takes white blood cells to and from the lymph nodes into the bones
The lymphatic system also hashas multiple interrelated functions: It is responsible for the removal of interstitial fluid from tissues. It absorbs and transports fatty acids and fats as chyle from the digestive system.
The lymphatic system plays a major role in immunity it plays an integral role in the immune functions of the body. It is the first line of defense against disease. This network of vessels and nodes transports and filters lymph fluid containing antibodies and lymphocytes (good) and bacteria (bad).it mainly produce the immune cells like monocytes lymphocytes etc which act against pathogens
And when it comes to the primary organs of lymphatic system these are organs where lymphocytes are formed and matured. They provide an environment for stem cells to divide and mature into B- and T- cells: There are two primary lymphatic organs: the red bone marrow and the thymus gland.
The function of the red bone marrow is Blood cell formation from differentiation of hematopoietic stem cells and most of redred blood cells, platelets, and most of the white blood cells are formed in the red marrow.
The function of the thymus gland includes it produces progenitor cells, which mature into T-cells (thymus-derived cells). The body uses T-cells help destroy infected or cancerous cells. T-cells created by the thymus also help other organs in the immune system grow properly.
