Discuss two important functions of the lymphatic system in the human body. Be sure and give detail as to how this function helps maintain homeostasis and fluid balance. At least 300 words
Lymphatic system is a network of organs and tissues that help to get rid of waste, toxins and waste materials.Spleen is the largest lymph organ in the body. The primary lymphatic organs include red bone marrow, thymus gland and lymphoid.
The main function of the lymphatic system that contributes to homeostasis are fluid balance, fat absorption and defense.By taking up and returning the excess fluid into the blood stream ,fluid balance is acheived. In fat absorption, the lymphatic system absorbs fat from the digestive tract and transport to the b lood stream.Defense is carried out by the white blood cells helping to defend the body from diseases. If any damage to the lymphatic system happens, the system cannot be able to perform homeostasis.
The lymphatic system helps to maintain flud balance by collecting excess fluid and matter from tissues and deposits them in blood stream. The capillary wall is considered semipermeable and allowing salt to pass freely.Hydrostatic pressure into the tissues is balanced by the osmotic pressure. It is generated by colloidal solutions ,forcing an absorption of fluid from the tissues.
