a- Do you believe in animal testing, even with the specific guidelines that are required to be followed? b-If you were to participate in a scientific research study as a subject, what, if anything, would cause you to decide to opt out? Why?

Solutions

Expert Solution

  • a)Animal testing has immense benefits to our human health and lifespan, but there are alternatives. There are sophisticated non-animal research methods which are more accurate, less expensive and less time-consuming than certain animal-based research methods. Alternatives include computer simulators and imaging techniques, epidemiological studies (studies of human populations), clinical research, in vitro research (in a test tube) and replacing animals with human cells in safety tests.
  • b)Well,if I have to become a subject then thing that will cause me opt out is lack of complete information about the study, unqualified researchers and not having my informed consent which is extremely important. Researchers need to be aware about the purpose of the study and convey complete information to the subject before making them agree to be a participant. Taking consent from the subject is important before conducting any research.
