In: Anatomy and Physiology
I have to write about dopamine
- I should talk about its synthesis- (physiologic mechanisms and drugs or foods affecting them);
- storage in vesicles (physiology-like the name of the pump for storage and drugs, toxins or foods that interferes with it);
-its release-physiology and drugs or toxins that interfere;
-the termination of effect in the synapse (physiology-like enzymatic breakage or re-uptake
-about the drugs that affect the process -and its receptors of these neurotransmitters and drugs acting on these receptors -
refer them as agonists and antagonists for relevant receptors).
I still have 4 more, I will post the questions individually
no need for figures if everything I asked for is explained.
Dopamine is A neurotransmitter in the central nervous system. It is inhibitory in nature. If it is deficent then it cause various disturbance, as the activities releted to behavior control, voluntary movement is regulated with this.
And also the endocrine activities is regulated by this neurotransmitter which help to transmit the signal to brain.
Its synthesis is begin from the amino acid from
Phenylalanine which convert into tyrosine
Tyrosine further converts to DOPAHER
DOPA converts into dopamine( various enzyme help in the process of dopamine synthesis
It is mainly stored into synaptic vesicle of neuron.
Its deficiency cause various neurodegenerative disease like Parkinson's disease which occur due to degeneration of dopaminergic neuron.
Drugs which are given to regulate the level of dopamine are
1. Drug which increase dopamine level
Eg levodopa
Levodopa is a drug which is a precursor of dopamine which is given to increase the level of dopamine .
Drug which prevents dopamine degradation are-
Seligiline rasagiline work as inhibitor to inhibit its metabolism and provide more and more to receptor for stimulation. Work as antagonist
Drug which work as agonist and stimulate dopamine receptor
The drugs like roprinole, pramipexole directly stimulate DA receptor .
They have a more advantage than others by providing long action.
