While self-awareness is one of the important elements of emotional intelligence. It means recognizing and being aware of the different aspects of oneself, including emotions, thoughts. feelings, etc.

Emotional intelligence, often related to understanding the intangible aspects of humankind, is seen as a strength for people in the workplace. It is mostly quoted as EQ.

Emotional intelligence or self-awareness can help to progress at the workplace too. As a person when understands what drives his actions can take control of it. This may involve paying attention to how one is feeling and how that emotion is affecting the work or decision. It is seen that at the workplace, where a lot of emotional conflicts arise due to tension with the bosses, or colleagues or work-related. Being self-aware and in control can help regulate them and constructively channelize the energy.

The mere recognition of emotions and feelings can help realize that they are ever-fleeting and temporary.

With controlled emotions, a person can perform better in his role with lesser tension, anxiety, and mental burden. Self-awareness also paves the way to understand other's aspects, thus completing emotional intelligence.

It is also important in predicting behavior, as most actions or decisions are taken impulsively when one is emotional. This, when regulated, can ensure that decision taken is for the good at large.
