It involves the processes, activities, and skills that are needed to define the start of a project. It requires you to set all permits, authorizations, and initial level project work orders in alignment to ensure an effective and logical beginning and movement of initial project activities setting the stage for subsequent movement throughout all project phases. Ensuring clear phases for work to be done, initializing teams, and having the working capital budget before work begins are crucial for a strong start to any project.

  • Planning Process Group-

It further defines the processes required to define the scope of the project, implement the strategic plans ideated in right place to maximize workflow, and prioritize lists and plan team needs. It also involves a better clarification of all project goals and expectations and to be put in place the project infrastructure that are necessary to achieve those goals as per the decided timeline and budget.

  • Executing Process Group-

It involves a project manager or head to managing teams effectively under timeline expectations and reaching pre decided project goals. Project managers will utilize it to demonstrate a high degree of organization and communication while addressing team concerns or other project involving complex situations associated with respect to time and within working capital budget.

  • Monitoring and Control Process Group-

It further engages the change orders, addressing strictly on the budget considerations, and mitigating unforeseen risks or circumstances that could affectthe project team’s resistance or competency to meet project expectations on initial or mid level. Project managers will have to keep the momentum of the project by regularly monitoring progress and using forecasting and adopting a quick response to address any kind of project challenges.

  • Closing Project Group-

It needs strong project management follow up across all the interrelated processes that defines the project. It involves the processes of submitting necessary documentation on time as per policies and terms. Only a good closure brings good project success.

Lessons Learned are to key a strict eye on below factors and follow strictly throughout the processes:

  • Documents that bound scope (what we are and are not doing);
  • Documents that list detailed requirements;
  • Documents that provide estimates for cost and time;
  • Documents that provide for a schedule;
  • Documents that plan for quality, communications, risk and procurement

Conclusion:

These processes define an organizational background to successfully plan, execute, and manage a well-run project. Hence each and every phase is vital. These process groups are not easy to implement, but doing so will optimize the full benefits of the projects.
