Review the following case of Peter.
(a) Define the THREE components of attitude in CAB Model.
(b) Using the components of CAB Model, what is Peter’s attitude
towards his current job?
Justify your answer with examples.
(c) Using Big Five Factors of Personality, identify THREE types of
Peter’s personalities.
Justify your answer with examples
Peter is an outgoing salesperson in PC Computer Retail. He is talkative and easy-going, so he builds up a good relationship with his clients. Peter has received a notice from the Human Resources Department that his working hours have just been reduced from 40 hours a week to 33 due to the economic downturn. He is upset about the reduction in time and pays, but he still shows up at work on time, as usual, every morning. He does not want to change his job because he dislikes changes. He is willing to wait patiently until the economic situation improves so that he can go back to working full time. Although he has family burdens, he is calmed as usual and continues building up a good relationship with his clients.

a. Defining the THREE components of attitude in CAB Model are as below
a. Affective attitude – This has a feeling /emotional reaction towards the attitude.
b. Cognitive Attitude – Person’s belief or knowledge about the attitude.
c. Behavioral Attitude – This is the influence the attitude has on us to behave in the manner.
b. Using the components of CAB Model, Peter’s attitude towards his current job is Behavioral attitude. Peter is demonstrating the behavioral attitude during his job hour changes due to downturn or market slowdown. Thus Peter is not expressing any emotional attitude and cognitive attitude, but Peter is showing his behavioral attitude and living with the time and waiting for time to get change. Peter wants his attitude to be remain same as long as he works and he want to continue his work as he has his own liabilities. Example – Peter is not showing any emotional attitude though the working time is reduced, which is not accepted to Peter, but still Peter works with full enthusiasm and full energy and maintaining the time period as per the revised time plan. This shows that Peter has demonstrated the behavioral attitude.
(c) The big five personality traits are openness, conscientiousness, extraversion, agreeableness, neuroticism. Out of this five personality traits, the three types of peter’s personality traits are as below
· Openness – Peter has personality as Openness. Example - Peter has shown his openness during his work support at his job location. He is open to learn new things and make meaningful impact and influences to the customers.
· Agreeableness – Peter has personality of agreeableness. Example – Peter is agree for the revise work time and he is agree to support as he was doing initially and making significant contribution to the business.
· Conscientiousness – Peter has personality as conscientiousness. Example Peter is reliable and prompt in the new work time schedule. Peter is organized and methodic in working at the work place and making significant contribution for the business.
