Communication is a process of conveying informations and ideas between the people. Communication models are attempts to understand this process of conveying and receiving information and ideas.
Transactional Model of communication attempts to understand this process as an exchange of ideas and information between the communicators.
This exchange of information between the communicators is influenced by the environment. The environment not only includes the physical one but also the personal and the socio-cultural environment. Communication becomes difficult when there is dissimilarities in the environment of the communicators. Example- People from different cultural background find difficulty in communicating than people belonging to the same culture.
The other factor that effect that influences the process of communication is context. The same piece of information may have a different meaning in different contexts. Example- The words " I love you" changes meaning when the communicators are parent-child, friends or lovers. Also, when this information is conveyed personally or through electronic media. Thus, context plays an important role in communication.
