Anterior pituitary gland is located in the brain whereas parathyroid gland located behind the neck and it is 4 small glands, which help in the regulation of calcium in the body. Anterior pituitary gland (APG) is located in the frontal part of brain and having several important function and regulation number of physiological process including reproduction. Mostly this gland is having glandular (epithelial) region and collectively this part is known as denohypophysis. Through HE staining of tissue section of APG shows three types of cells
These cells can be determined on the basis of their cytoplasm colour, acidophils red (or orange), basophils blue whereas chromosphobes does not provide conclusive color patter.
Parathyroid glands are four tiny glands located on the corners of thyroid gland that means they are present in the proximity of thyroid gland.
Parathyroid gland is made up of two kinds of cells known as Chief cells (responsible for synthesis and secretion of endocrine hormone, parathyroid) and Oxyphil cells (cell number increases with ageing with no certain or known function). When we stain section of this gland in HE stain then chief cell give dark color wherein Oxyphill cell stain lightly.
The APG is required for growth and reproduction whereas parathyroid gland is crucial for the levels of calcium in the body.
