Raj is a human resources manager of a company that is trying to control its costs. The company pays the healthcare costs of its workers and these costs have been rising. The total cost for healthcare can be lowered if the employees eat better quality food and avoid poor quality food. Raj wants to institute a program where employees report to him their monthly diet so that he can recommend changes which will lower the company’s healthcare costs and potentially improve the employee’s health. Human Resource Management (HRM or HR) is a strategic approach to effectively managing people in a company or organization so that their business receives a competitive advantage. It is designed to optimize employee performance in meeting employee strategic goals. Human resource management deals primarily with the management of people within the organization, focusing on policies and systems. The HR department is responsible for overseeing staff income design, recruiting, training and development, performance appraisal, and salary management, such as payroll system management and benefits. HR also deals with organizational change and industrial relations, or with the implementation of institutions that balance with the needs arising from collective bargaining and government legislation.


The overall goal of HR is to ensure that the organization is successful through the people. HR professionals manage the HR of an organization and focus on implementing policies and processes. They can specialize in recruiting, recruiting, training and developing employees as well as maintaining employee relationships or benefits. Training and development professionals ensure that staff are continuously trained and developed. This is done through training programs, performance appraisals, and payroll programs. Employee relationships address employee concerns when policies are violated, such as harassment or discrimination. Employee benefits management includes the development of benefits, benefits, parental leave, rebates and other employee benefits. On the other side of the expertise is HR or business partners. These HR professionals can work across all departments or as work representatives working with unskilled employees.
