For the reaction: 2A + B2 -> 2AB,+ H =+50.0 kJ
a) Heat is released to the surroundings
b) The standard enthalpy of formation for AB is 50.0 kJ
c) The molecule AB contains less energy than A or B2
d) The reaction is endothermic
e) The bond energy for each A-B bond is 50.0 kJ
option D is correct
The reaction is endothermic as the delta H is +ve ( heat is required for the reaction to take place.
I will Explain why the other options are incorrect as far as i can:
option (a) is incorrect as the reaction is endothermic (delta H is +ve )
option (b) is incorrect as the standard enthalpy of formation (change of enthalpy for the formation of one mole) of AB is 50/2 = 25.0 KJ
option (c) we cannot decide as there is no substantial information provided in the reaction given
oprion (e) from explanation for option (b) the information is wrong
Only option which is correct as per the given reactiion is option D
