  • Introduction - When it comes to motivating their employees, it can be said without question that Google stands out from the rest. Google was named the 2014 "Best Company to Work For” by the Great Place to Work Institute and Fortune Magazine. The organization topped the list for the fifth time.
  • Well Google is a company which is known for its versatile and diversified background, you will find Google into every big venture and employees at Google are said to be one of the best in the world and Google is no doubly the number- 1 brand for employees to work.
  • when talking about motivation, in today’s era I believe that every company needs to motivate their employees not just Google because the work pressure of employees has increased so much in last few years and the expectations also from the employees has increased in past few years and when talking about employees at Google, they are the best in the world and they work in very versatile way because Google is a company which is very versatile and employees need specialized knowledge to work with Google and if the company is taking a lot of work from them then in such cases it becomes very necessary and important to motivate their employees.
  • There are many motivation theories that can be applied such as Maslow – hierarchy of needs, Vroom's expectancy theory, Adams' equity theory and Locke's goal-setting theory.

So out of all these theories of motivation I will go with Locke’s goal setting theory of motivation,

because this theory involves development of an action plan designed to motivate and guide a person or group toward a goal and in Google the work from employees are taken too much and if the company needs to make their employees work more than in such cases it is important to set a goal for employees that is set a goal of higher target, if the employee is able to achieve the target then he/she will be given extra pay or other monetary benefits will be given etc.

  • Setting higher target/goal will help Google in taking more work from their employees and employees will also be motivated to work hard in order to get more pay/ benefit.
