Answer: Hypertension is one of the most as well as strongest risk factors which causes cardiovascular disease. Hypertension is a condition where the force of the blood on the walls of artery is too high. The heart starts to work under high pressure, this leads to increased pressure on the cardiac muscles. This excessive stress on the heart muscles leads to heart attack, heart failure etc.

There are several possible complications of uncontrolled or untreated hypertension such as:

  • Kidney impairment
  • Congestive heart failure
  • Stroke
  • Dementia
  • Paralysis
  • Metabolic disorder.
