Anaphylactic shock:- it is an extreme , life threatening allergic reaction to an antigen to which the body has become hyper sensitive. This reaction occurs with in seconds or minutes of exposure to an allergen.
Anaphylaxis cause our immune system to release flood of chemicals that causes into shock.Lowering blood pressure drops suddenly and air ways narrows blocking breaths.
First line of treatment is epinephrine:- epinephrine is the first and ,most important treatment for anaphylaxis. It prevent the progession to life threatening symptoms.
The doctor and nurse using the second line treatment is the doctor ask the questions about previous allergic reactions including;
*Particular food allergy
*Medication allergy
* latex allergy
* Insect stings
-Checking blood samples to measure the creatine enzyme levels that is elevated after 3 hours of anaphylaxis.
- checking skin test to determine trigger.
The medicines used for anaphylactic shock are;
* Epinephrine :- to reduce our body allergic response.
* Oxygen :- help to breathe
* Intravenous (IV) antihistamine and cortisone:-used to reduce inflammation of our air passages and also improves breathing.
* Beta -agonist(Albuterol) :-it will relieve breathing symptoms.
* Corticosteroids are also used to treat.
The contraindications are using drug epinephrine are hypersensitivity sympathomimetic drugs, glaucoma, anesthesia with halothane.another unique contraindication are cateholaminergic polymorphic ventricular tachycardia.
The side effects are fainting , light-headness,low blood pressure, dizziness, difficulty in breathing, rapid breathing, nausea , vomiting, facial swelling , mental confusion.
The best way to prevent anaphylaxis is avoid substance that causes serve reactions.all ways keep an emergency kit with as with prescribed medications.
