Kari Marie Martinsen, a nurse and philosopher, was born in Oslo in 1943 .
kari martinsen nursing philosophy emphasizes care as being basic need for human existence. She argues that as human beings are basically social and dependent on other people and relies on human life as a life in interdependence
One of the main goals and principles of Martinsen’s philosophy is the idea of care and caring should be a comprehensive sentiment not only in nursing but also in medicine in general. In other words, she contradict the idea that nurses should care while doctors cure – both parties should take equal responsibility in both processes ie,cure and care . A new thought should be developed, a new outlook for doctors to view their patients – instead of a dehumanizing and analytical approach common in modern hospitals.
