nursing care plan for schistosomiasis
Schistosomiasis, also known as bilharzia, is a parasitic disease contracted from the larvae of freshwater snails.
Nursing care for schistosomiasis include the following:
Nursing Assessment
Assessment of the patient include:
History. The majority of individuals who develop infection are frequently have a history of contacting Larvae of fresh water snails.
Physical Examination: The patient may suffer with Fever, Chills,Lymph node Enlargement,Itching and Rashes.
Nursing Diagnosis:
1. liver and Spleen Enlargement,Fever due to Heavy Infestation.
2. Itching and rash due to initial Invasion of skin.
3. Bloody Diahera due to intestinal symptoms.
4. Dysuria and Hematuria are Urinary symptoms.
Nursing Care planning and goals:
1. Stabilize patient s having accute complications.
2. To reduce disease Morbidity and transmission.
3. The patient and care givers will acquire enough knowledge about the disease process and it's treatment.
4. The patient will have reduced itching and scratching.
Nursing Interventions:
1. Reduce or Diminish Pain.
2. Protect skin integrity.
3. Enforce knowledge about the disease and it's Treatment.
Evaluation:
Goals are met as evidenced by:
1. The patient s pain was Diminished.
2. Blood in the stools are reduced.
3. Patient has reduced itching and scratching.
4. Reduced Fever.
