Ebola is a rare and deadly disease and it can cause disease in humans and nonhuman primates.Since the discovery of the Ebola virus, there have been Ebola infections among healthcare workers in almost every outbreak. Protecting healthcare workers from Ebola virus disease and improving infection control are critical elements to provide reliable health care and stop the epidemic. Healthcare providers caring for Ebola patients and family and friends in close contact with Ebola patients are at the highest risk of getting sick because they may come in contact with infected blood or body fluids.During outbreaks of Ebola, the disease can spread quickly within healthcare settings (such as a clinic or hospital). Exposure to Ebola can occur in healthcare settings where hospital staff are not wearing appropriate personal protective equipment. The US govt. considers on imposing a US-wide quarantine for all healthcare workers returning from West Africa. The CDC announced that all airline passengers traveling from Ebola-affected nations would get Ebola kits and be required to self-monitor for 21 days, which is the maximum length of time it takes someone exposed to the virus to show symptoms. The govt. guidelines are not mandatory and states will have the right to put in place policies that are more strict. Some state officials, grappling with an unfamiliar public health threat, had called federal restrictions placed on people traveling from Ebola-affected countries insufficient to protect Americans and have imposed tougher measures.
