What role does a manager play in motivating employees?

It is very important for the managers to motivate the employees so to encourage their productivity as well as ensure their job satisfaction. As employees can't be forced, so they can be motivated for the success of an organization. For their proper motivation, managers first need to understand their basic needs and this role of understanding their needs is very crucial. It is very important for the managers to track employees' performance so that their professional and personal life can be balanced equally. Managers can also appreciate employees for their performances so to keep them encouraged. They can also be engaged in the decision making process who may directly affect them so to increase their confidence level.

How might this differ in a Healthcare setting?

On the other hand, this motivation is more important in the case of healthcare organizations as employee motivation directly affects the satisfaction of the patients. That means, when medical practitioners are satisfied with their jobs, they would tend to retain overtime works and try to satisfy the patients as much as possible with their quality of care. So, medical practitioners can be motivated when they have some long term benefits and an increase in their wages.
