Suggest 6 ways to increase the brightness of the lamp when AC is used?

Solutions

Expert Solution

Brightness of a bulb depends on the power in consumes :

we know,

so, brightness can be controlled by changing current, voltage and resistance of the circuit.

6 ways are-

1. Using transformers to change the current: step down transformer will increase the current and step up will decrease the current.

2. Using resistor: to change the resistance. Note that the higher resistance inside the bulb ( filament) increase the brightness.

3. Using connecting wire with higher resistance, higher resistance wire will decrease the effective current going through the bulb. Which will lead to lower brightness.

4. Using regulator to control the voltage supply through the bulb.

5. Filament with higher resistance. We can always see the power consumption of the bulb. Higher power means brighter bulb.

6. Higher AC frequency: higher the frequency brighter the bulb. A higher frequency causes the magnetic field produced by the current to change more rapidly which causes greater rate of change of flux through the pickup coil.
